Workshops:
One of the key resources available to you in the Math Center is periodic workshops. Workshops focus on a variety of topics including dealing with math anxiety, improving study skills, math videos, applications of math in various vocations, word problems, fractions, etc. The Counseling Department conducts several workshops each semester on overcoming math anxiety. Other workshops are scheduled as needed.
Math Center students are required to attend at least five one-hour workshops as part of the course grade. The time spent in the workshops will count toward your attendance. Simply check in at the front desk before attending the workshop. If you can’t attend a live workshop, you can watch one on video. Workshop videos may be checked out for use from the Materials Check-Out room area in the front of the Math Center. Videos that count toward the course grade are listed at the front counter.

Online WebCT resources:
Students who register for Math 44, will automatically be enrolled in a corresponding WebCT course online. WebCT is the course management system used by the San Diego Community College District to manage its online courses. The Math 44 WebCT course will be available to all students taking on-campus Math Center courses as well as students who visit the Math Center to use its resources.
The Math 44 WebCT course is under development. When released in Spring 2009, it will include a discussion board for posting math questions 24/7, after-hours online chats with tutors by appointment, WebCt email, and Syllabus and information on all the Math Center programs. When completed it will include links to other online resources, detailed frequently asked questions and answers about the courses as well as math topics, instructional materials in the Learning Resources link, and opportunities for students to develop learning modules for workshop credit
(as podcasts, videos, etc.)

Tutorial Services:
Math Tutoring is offered on a first-come first-serve walk-in basis anytime the Math Center is open. Due to the number of students attending the Math Center, tutors are limited to the amount of time they can spend with each student. Remember, tutors are here to help students with a problem or two and to answer questions that a student may have about a particular problem. Tutors are available as a supplement to the other learning resources in the Math Center; they are not available to teach each student the entire course one-on-one.
All Math Center tutorial students must be registered in the Math 44 (tutorial services) class to use the Math Center resources.
